Incredible. Yes. Thank you for sharing!

(Also, in a fun synchronicity to you sharing this anecdote to your Making Comics class, I put Scott McCloud on the reading list of the student who has been digging into Stoppard's craft this term. 😀)

I feel like that one is especially suited for revisiting in different seasons of life. How fun to be sharing the experience in a read-aloud!

I'm working with an Alma College MFA student this semester who is digging deep into some of Stoppard's work -- the techniques of crafting absurdity, humor, the stuff of life.

I'm so grateful to have had this time to explore it with him.

Beth is the winner of inaugural $5,000 A-Mark prize for investigative reporting from the Detroit chapter @spj-posts.bsky.social, of which I'm a board member.

And a cool part of the gig means that I get to really dig into the reporting with her and her editor this week.

There's more, of course! And Beth's investigation had serious impact, not least in an ongoing investigation by the attorney general.

It just got weirder.

"Beydoun paid $11,000 for a single flight to attend a conference in Budapest and $4,500 for a coffee maker. She dropped ... another $130,000 on legal and consulting fees incurred over her fledgling business' first nine months of operations."
