To effectively address the current housing crisis, we must build homes that will last a life time, that are accessible and adaptable for people as they age, and that give older people options to down size.

Let us show the millions of unpaid carers that we care.

Last week, I led a debate in Parliament on the inequalities faces by unpaid carers to mark #CarersRightsDay.

We must tackling the inequalities that affect millions of carers across the UK.

I have been particularly closely engaged with constituents in Cullingworth and Wilsden regarding recent planning applications for battery storage.

I have always been clear that new infrastructure MUST bring benefits to the local community.

That means cheaper bills and local community funding.

🌹 #Lab25 complete!

It’s been a fantastic few days here in Liverpool.

Here’s a bit of my reaction to the prime minister’s speech and what some of the exciting announcements mean for the Shipley constituency.

🇬🇧 I’m proud to be British.

Jo Cox once said, “We are far more united and have far more in common with each other than the things that divide us.”

I remember Jo’s words and her actions as a Parliamentarian in all I do as an MP, and I believe what she said rings just as true today as it ever has.

🗳️ Brilliant to join @labour4pr.bsky.social at #Lab25 to talk all things electoral reform.

PR feels closer now than it ever has, and I’m proud to fight for it.

Everyone’s vote should matter.

Everyone’s voice should matter.

Today, I and 10 fellow West Yorkshire MPs wrote to the Home Secretary and Incoming Chair of the National Inquiry.

Expressing support for a focus on West Yorkshire and specific local authorities, as part of the new national inquiry into group-based child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Do you think the CEO of Yorkshire Water deserves a £1.3 million pay bonus?

I don't. I think it’s a disgrace.

I’m calling on her to donate it to the Yorkshire Rivers Trust.

Sign our petition and show Yorkshire Water what you think of their performance: survey.labour.org.uk/yorkshire-wa...

This week, I visited a primary school where children were learning about British values.

It made me reflect on the events in London last weekend.

I’m proud to be British. A diverse and tolerant nation.

That’s why I will always oppose discrimination and prejudice in any form.

Sadly, I am not alone.

Too many MPs across political parties have been subject to horrific online abuse and threats.

It must stop.

🚰 It’s time for radical action.

I strongly support the Labour Government’s announcement that they will be abolishing Ofwat and strengthening oversight.

But, I believe it is time not only to merge the regulators but also to restructure failing companies like Yorkshire Water.

The United Kingdom must immediately recognise the state of Palestine.

There can be no lasting peace without a two-state solution.

And there is no two-state solution without a viable Palestinian state.

A privilege to host the Care and Support Alliance’s Parliamentary event.

Thank you to the MPs who joined us to hear from those who rely on care, and their carers.

Fantastic to meet Jack, Angela, Tony, and others to discuss how proper housing and support can transform lives.

Early start talking about the changes to the benefit reforms on BBC Breakfast. The government have set out concessions in response to concerns I and other MPs raised about the impact of the original proposals on disabled people and their carers.
I am pleased the government listened.

Yesterday, I co-signed an amendment with over 100 of my Labour Party colleagues to stop the welfare reform proposals from becoming law.

This is a decision I have not taken lightly, but I believe it is the right one.

Today in Parliament, I will be voting against the Assisted Dying Bill.

I have no principled objections to assisted dying; however, as someone with nearly 30 years of experience in health and care, I believe that the bill presented to us is both unworkable and unsafe.

And views change. Half of people who support in principle would change their mind if someone chose an assisted death because they couldn’t get the care and support they needed.

When people are asked what they understand by assisted dying many people say things that are already legal. MPs are not voting on a principle but a major change in the law. Crude polling is not a sound basis for such a profound and complex decision.

Jo Cox, was murdered nine years ago today whilst doing the job she loved, serving her home community as an MP.

I will always remember her and work to create the united and inclusive communities that she believed in.

🚌🚆🚊🛤 Fantastic news this week. I met with the Chancellor as she announced £2.1bn for transport in West Yorkshire creating better connections, making a reality of mass transit and a new bus station for Bradford. I also met with the Transport Minister to discuss investment in active travel.

Inspiring to attend the showcase for Bradford at #UKREiiF I spoke about the potential for further investment in Shipley and the opportunities for heritage led regeneration.

Joined a panel at Fabian Society health and care summit this week. Talked about fair allocations to local government, reforms to commissioning and fair terms for providers as key to National Care Service and Fair Pay Agreement

Investing in renewable energy is not just about tackling the climate crisis - it’s about creating good, skilled, future-proofed jobs for local people.

Producing our own energy will also end our dependence on expensive foreign natural gas imports.

Bradford remembers.

Today, our city came together to commemorate 40 years since the tragic Bradford City Stadium Fire.

Everyone affected by the events of that day will always be in our hearts.

We will never forget the 56.
