I give to War Child / Save the Children / etc near my late Mum's birthday, because it's what she would have done 💔❤️‍🩹

Here are some random exploratory plots for you - looks like women report better social support from family and friends than men regardless of marital status, while partnered men report better partner support than partnered women do

Hi Kevin,
What do you make of brain connectivity (white matter and brain activity) GWAS results that are enriched for terms associated with the immune response to infections? Noise or potentially interesting?
Thanks!

I had a great time at the British Society for Population Studies @bspsuk.bsky.social conference this week. I've written a blog post about what I learned - check it out at the link below!

I was lucky enough to visit the Jenny Saville exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery yesterday, along with the Portrait Award entries which are always amazing, plus the icon of epidemiology: Broad Street Pump, and the place my parents met: Somerset House

Last week I had a great time at the Soc-B student workshop at University of Essex. Loved listening to everyone's presentations and talking about my research. A great bunch of passionate students and supportive professors. I also enjoyed the Wivenhoe trail walk and campus tree walk 🥰

This week I travelled across the globe to present my PhD research at the IBANGS Genes, Brain and Behavior conference in Fiji. I have learned so much fascinating neurobiology this week! I took a few moments to think about my mother on the anniversary of her passing. Glad to have slept 14h last night!

Another one of us turns 40! Had a great time catching up with my school friends last night 🥰 It doesn't hurt that she owns a genuinely excellent independent bakery and is friends with the local cheese shop 😋

To brighten your feed on #InternationalDayofForests: A sliver of "forest" 10 min from me, some Essex campus trees, a stunning view of Lake Bassenthwaite from Dodd Wood, and a Forest of Dean pic from earlier this month.

So maybe I'm biased because my excellent friend wrote one of the chapters, but isn't it fantastic that this book on diseases goes into detail on sociological factors, patient education, and management?
