European conquest of the islands of the Canarian archipelago lasted almost a century (1402-1496). Genocide in the Canary Islands was via attrition and the aggregate result of violence.

The Canary Islands were one of the 1st places in Atlantic to have plantations of enslaved African in the 15th c.

Someone in the replies claims China's clean energy development is only for export. This is false. China is installing more clean energy capacity than the rest of the world combined, while *also* exporting clean energy tech that's helping the rest of the world decarbonize.
