Each was distinct, the noise echoing above the gentle plip of tiny waves lapping at the fake shoreline and the steady hum of machinery. “Wriothesley,” the voice repeated. The engineer glanced, helplessly, at the warped metal panel of the filter. A dark and blurry shadow loomed in its dull surface, reflecting naught but two pinpricks of lavender light. There was something in the water.
