oh yes for anyone new here volke is the worst wol bc he can barely manipulate aether and has like 2 drops of fuel (aether) in his tank at all times no matter what he does. This is his ancients fault though, he was born like that 🤷‍♂️

This could be a reason for why he wears gloves all the time, so he can "protect" the crystals. And what if he had 2 lances instead 1... for fun... more versatility in combat.

Its similar to how thancred needed ryne to "refill" his aether bullets. He would need someone to "refill" his crystals so he could keep manipulating the aether. And even if the crystals were drained he could still use the lance normally. The nouliths function as the foci they are for the aether

I just had the most sexy epiphany earlier, what if he had crystals embedded in his hands (similar to what child zenos did in that one short story) so he could properly manipulate aether. Attach sage nouliths to spear points of lance. Can manipulate weapon despite everything wrong with him (lol)
