i have to say that it's also possible that this is how their microecon class denotes it ! i haven't looked into it much. but definitely for some other stuff on homeworks. greek letters that we never use in class

but if you start posting your favorite videos pics of grass, summits etc (if you are willing to share) we can make this a thing

ironically i know what it looks like in my head but haven't the time to put it together myself rather than just increasingly elaborate text descriptions (an important principle of the project).

it includes an embroidery kit for the gimmick but also some iron-on patches if you haven't the time or if the textile arts aren't your thing

last week i unironically showed up to the conversations with deans lunch session with my cup of huel asking about resources for compute ☠️

- an office lunch slop bowl is $15+ in the US plus waiting in line
- objs: lower cost, save time
- constraints: make in microwave from desk/fridge
- use saved $$ to buy food from actual restaurants with more delicious offerings

this is really tempting actually ! will look into it - 👀 and yeah summer tends to work out quite well

👀 would absolutely. their site says "Academics on leave (or fleeing the academy)" can come lol but im neither. Just want to catch up and learn how to do things myself

what i miss from being young are studio days, just showing up somewhere around other people late at night making stuff and getting to learn how to make stuff.

* Structured Difference-of-Q via Orthogonal Learning
arxiv.org/abs/2406.08697
Certain causal factorizations -> the optimal policy is "sparse". But rather than assuming the graph, we estimate the difference-of-Q function, whose sparsity adapts to structure & generalize the R-learner to learn it.
Structured Difference-of-Q via Orthogonal Learning
Offline reinforcement learning is important in many settings with available observational data but the inability to deploy new policies online due to safety, cost, and other concerns. Many recent…

* Robust Fitted-Q-Evaluation and Iteration under Sequentially Exogenous Unobserved Confounders
arxiv.org/abs/2302.00662
(David Bruns-Smith is on the job market! A big update to this paper - we test for memoryless UCs, a common assumption in RL under unobserved confounders)
Robust Fitted-Q-Evaluation and Iteration under Sequentially Exogenous Unobserved Confounders
Offline reinforcement learning is important in domains such as medicine, economics, and e-commerce where online experimentation is costly, dangerous or unethical, and where the true model is unknown.…

Position Paper: Fostering the Ecosystem of AI for Social Impact Requires Expanding and Strengthening Evaluation Standards

But we don't know how to do a poster presentation for a position paper 😅
Fostering the Ecosystem of AI for Social Impact Requires Expanding and Strengthening Evaluation Standards
There has been increasing research interest in AI/ML for social impact, and correspondingly more publication venues have refined review criteria for practice-driven AI/ML research. However, these…
