Escaped from the other place, generally interested in all things engineering, cycling, flying and whisky (but only when it's spelled correctly 😄)
I kind of assumed that Starmer knew The Prince of Darkness was as shady as shit, but we're hoping to use this against the Drumpf administration. It has backfired somewhat....

You also have to remember much of China's coal build out is to replace old inefficient coal plants that are at the end of their working lives, the new high efficiency units that replace them can produce much more electricity from the same tonnage of coal, so it still drives emissions down.

I still have my suspicions that this has less to do with the overall reduction in private car movements and more to do with the wholesale elimination of heavy diesel busses and diesel taxis as these are about 95% of your NOX emissions in urban areas.

Salaries are realistic, the issue is that businesses are struggling due to Brexit and low consumer confidence due to the hollowing out of the middle and working class.

Given that the value of money has roughly halved since 1995, this is like saying a trainee in the 90s would earn about £13,000/yr. When you put it in those terms, it does not look like an unrealistic salary....

No one is going to be spending vast amounts of Capex investment on plant that can only use "curtailed wind" energy. It's like building something like Grangemouth oil refinery and then committing to only turning it on for 3 hours a day at best. Nah, the Capex for these things is a non starter.

About time. The media have done us all a disservice by allowing this shyster to lie his way through political life unchallenged for too long. Byline Times excepted of course.

My favourite is the 100% import duty on private cars....., oh and the fact you have to buy a 'certificate of entitlement' to be allowed to even own a car, and said certificate is only a 10 year validity.....

I've gotten to thinking that most of us (in Europe) are two major purchases away from being mostly done with fossil fuel. 1st being an EV (car) and the 2nd being an ASHP for space heat/hot water. Those two alone would make most households almost fossil free. When put like that it doesn't seem far.
