SEXUALITY? IN MY DOCTOR WHO??
(Fun fact: that screencap of Leela was blocked by Google's Safe Search.)

I'm very much with Leonard Nimoy on nitpicking canon (see below). Occasionally spotting something and coming up with a head canon explanation? That I'm here for. I'm fond of saying "the only canon is head canon." This is doubly true for Doctor Who.

@cooraysmith.bsky.social Hey, I just read your latest Psychic Paper, and something stood out to me I didn't understand (nor could I adequately Google). What's this in reference to?

There were a couple of teasing moments when the Sixth Doctor almost fixed it. I think the chameleon circuit could be played with a little. Just so long as it's broken in a narratively-appropriate fashion once the joke has landed.

Hey gamers, I've been finishing up my playthrough of Outer Worlds to scratch that Fallout itch we all got from the show. Once I do, where should I go next? (I'm an RPG/Strategy player. Not a big multiplayer guy) Thinking:
1) Fallout (1997)
2) Starfield
3) Fallout 76
4) Replay 3, NV, or 4
Thoughts?

Decided to go back to Outer Worlds to scratch the itch that the Fallout show has given me. It's a really fun game with on-the-nose commentary and hyper-stylisation. I can imagine it in an alternate Fallout universe where focus was put into space travel rather than nuclear weapons.

I really enjoyed The Marvels. It was fun and banter plus great characters. I'm excited for Ms. Marvel setting up the Young Avengers/Champions. That's bound to be a lot of fun.
I also enjoyed the grittiness of Echo. There was a lot of cool mythology along with a continuation of Kingpin's story.

Oh, and the only people harmed by the new #DoctorWho release plans are the terminally-online, determined-to-be-angry type. And they were going to be upset no matter what.
This change benefits most fans, and doesn't affect most British fans. And benefits me personally. 😉🟦

Let's play a game! What's something you're genuinely looking forward to about #NcutiGatwa / RTD2's #DoctorWho? I'll start.
Jonathan Groff and Jinkx Monsoon are electric performers I'm looking forward to seeing as guest stars. Doubly so if it's a musical episode. Musical episodes are fun. Fight me.

I'm not a big tech guy, but I do think this article also applies to passions and interests in general. The South Park, Cinema Sins approach to criticism: everything is dumb and you're dumb for liking it.
It's trite, but I still believe the message of that one comic: just let people enjoy things.

Unpopular opinion: fandom echo chambers are good actually.
If I love Doctor Who, Star Wars, the MCU, etc., and I'm looking for other people to squee and enthuse with, why shouldn't I just block everyone who only posts bile about those loves, working directly against my goal of shared enjoyment?

Every time I trace a female comic book character from one medium (movies, video games, cartoons) back to the comics, they're all drawn by (and for) horny adolescents and I rapidly lose interest. It's such a shame.
Case in point: Magik and Nico Minoru from Marvel's Midnight Suns.

The next time the world upsets you, think about the Stoic dichotomy of control, which has been modernised by some into the tranquility prayer: if there's nothing you can do, why worry? If there is: do it.

This quote, from The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman feels relevant to me right now, as I'm spending 2024 (so far) reading, learning, and working on myself in therapy.

What I'm enjoying about Marvel's Midnight Suns isn't just the tactical superhero combat that is addicting me like Firaxis' XCOM 2 did, but the opportunity to hang out with the superheroes at the Abbey. Those are always my favourite issues of team-up books: where we can see the heroes be people.
