The coveted 60 degree bike commute during peak foliage.

But I do like that a brewery is allowed by right in a random 44th street parcel.

This weekend, my son and I took the B-Line to Downtown St. Paul to the Science Museum. It took about 40 min from Nicollet.

On the way back we took the Green Line. To my surprise, it took about the same amount of time - 43 minutes to downtown MPLS.

Why? The Green Line waited at several red lights.

A-Line already packed at 9:30

Arguably Minneapolis' most urban format high school of the time (currently maybe Edison?)

Yes! Nokomis Junior High. Which raises an unrelated question about the difference between Junior High and Middle School in Minnesota.

Nice! Agreed about the layout of the housing. Probably the same density as the surrounding neighborhood or lower.

North of 43rd seems like maybe a concrete block factory

I honestly don't know. The city atlas from 1940 had it as undeveloped, and Sanborn maps from 1950 don't cover the area.

Very cool.

Portland - 41st and Oakland. I could not actually find a photograph of this school or information about when it closed. Demolished in the 1940s. Now single-family homes.

Simmons - 38th and Minnehaha. Built in 1905. Converted to apartments.

2. Rosedale - 43rd and Wentworth. Built in 1896. Closed in 1980. Also townhouses.

Three South Minneapolis public schools of the past that closed and are now housing.

1. Louis Agassiz - 38th and Harriet. Closed in 1981 after sustaining tornado damage. Now the site of a few dozen townhouses.

The one at 40th st and 11th ave does well with the bike navigation issue:

1 and 2 are reasonable, but the houses are absolutely NOT insanely expensive.

This is an awesome piece and list. One that I always think about is the gap between the end of the 40th St. cycletrack and the Lake Harriet path. There's plenty of space for a separated path here, and cars go annoyingly fast on Dupont and the Rose Garden connector

Pretty ridiculous April Fools joke here

I’ll be honest, the common wisdom that “once you get below 0F, it’s all the same” is not true. It does get colder
