Went for a sunny 50km spin in Vale of the White Horse. Abingdon was super busy down by the river...

Nice and sunny, before the it went cloudy... and quite windy, on a shortish ride via central Oxford this pm. Didn't find the Xmas market very inspiring, but a tasty lamb samosa from the Oxford covered market went down well.

I haven't seen anything this time. In Oct 2024, I missed most of the aurora action; the colours in this image, were only just vaguely visible to the naked eye.

New pedals & cleats time... Pleased I'd greased the pedal threads previously - saves on joint breaking effort to remove them. A historic stuck seatpost & snapped crank bolt have reinforced this behaviour in me... 😁

Wallingford Bridge, "Do not overtake cyclists".

Oh, guess what? 🤦‍♂️

Highmoor Common Wood near Nettlebed is one my fav autumnal woodland ride routes. Well worth the slight deviation off the B481...

The Chilterns looked amazing in the autumnal sun today. Did a 75km ride up to Christmas common and back through Stoke Row, & Wallingford. Loads of riders out; chatted to someone who was doing the Henley Hilly 100. Nice day ferit. #Oxfordshire #Cycling

Refuel at the Spire & Spoke, Watlington. Now for Watlington hill to Christmas Common... #Oxfordshire #Chilterns

Not gonna lie - this driver annoyed me yesterday, in #Oxford High St. More or less just shaved past, overtaking a parked landyacht. I resisted the urge to slap the bus' bodywork, because that can end badly - Newton's 3rd & all that. #Cycling

80km ride up north of Oxford to Enstone and back. New non rattling or buzzy SKS Edge Al 28" mudguards do the trick. Some great autumnal colours at the moment. Enjoy a good 'unsuitable for motors' stretch of road. 😉 Quite a bit of wind about, but my north / south route wasn't too bad. #Oxfordshire

Easiest way to use the hopeless GWR vertical bike spaces, for one stop & when train is quiet, with some handy reusable cable ties...

Still going after all these years. No longer made though...

Trip to Abingdon Ock Street, October fair last night. One of my tasks was to bring home some candy floss - cable tied to the saddle pack... Also tested out the new Lumintop B01 bike light - pretty good. Takes 21700 or 18650 cells...

The Ridgeway really is stunning at the moment by bike, autumnal colours developing, great vistas, still very dry. Quiet too - tyres on chalk, wind & birds. These days often tending to do approx 20-30% tracks on a ride, adjusting tyre psi as & when.

The hawthorn was putting on a berry good display, up on the Ridgeway...

There's some strange sheep in this neck of the woods... Did some Ridgeway from Letcombe (Segsbury) castle, to Uffington castle/ White horse hill, as part of a longer ride. Ground is still nice and dry. 35mm tyres at 35psi ish did the trick

'Look Mum...' 😉

Enjoying an empty section of the Phoenix Trail (Thame <-> Princes Risborough), midweek. TBF, I reckon I passed <5 people over the entire length... 👍

I did a bit of the Ridgeway / Midshires between Chinnor and Bledow. Dry as a bone - there at least. So it looks like the dry ground has absorbed much of the recent rain. Good time to get some more tracks in...

The Phoenix trail was good today, as part of the longer ride. Much quieter than on a weekend. Almost a tail wind too.
September 25, 2025 at 3:46 PM
Managed to get out for a ride today; first time in over 10 days. Via Ewelme, and Princes Risborough. Great coffee and sausage roll at The Biker Bean in Chinnor. Going to take in the Phoenix trail...

I've not yet needed it...but over colder months I try to carry some backup tyre inflation, esp on solo rides. I did once help someone out by the roadside, whose pump had failed in the Chilterns, so these things happen, I guess.

Moar pics... from Gospel pass ride. Hay on Wye, music festival coming up btw. Had a good meal at the Old Black Lion in Hay, which also has live jazz on Friday nights. Some 'wait what?' moments... Church with a leaning tower in the valley, & the Clodock pterodactyl. #Cycling #Photography #Wales

😁 There were quite a few drivers heading up northwards on Sat pm, I guess because the weather fine. Fortunately, ample passing places, to let them get on with it; so all good.
