It's so disrespectful to the medium. How many designers and programmers and artists worked tirelessly for months just for their work to be taken by an event purporting to celebrate it and used as a cheap tablecloth for the sake of crass consumerism.

And we have those takeaways because that's what the game awards spends its time on. It's what they're about. It's an ads show, the awards are just an excuse to get you watching. They spend as little time possible talking about the awards so they can just cut to their next ad reel.

The fact that the only thing people ever talk about is the ads says it all. We should be talking about how important the games that were nominated were, how much x deserved its victory or how much y should have won instead, but barely anyone ever talks about that compared to the new games announced.

It is by definition a film with very niche appeal. I think it's really good though.
