Nothing out of place here.

Minority Report(2002): When Spielberg hits, he REALLY hits. Visually kind of hard to look at from how unbelievably bright it is but other than that it's non-stop intrigue. Love the clear inspirations from Hitchcock, and I definitely need to check out more stuff adapted from Phillip K Dick's novels.

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome(1985): I mean...y'know...I liked the Thunderdome bits...wasn't a big fan of the Saturday morning kids cartoon that came after...maybe don't go beyond next time.

Suzume(2022): Makoto Shinkai only knows how to make one movie, but this version of it was still pretty decent. I think it might have been funnier than "Your Name" but in every other area it loses out. Not bad tho.

Dog Man(2025): Took my nephew to see this and it sure was fine. Not as good as Captain Underpants but that just might be the grumpy old man in my heart talking. ACAB does in fact include Dog Man sadly.

The Apprentice(2024): (Okay I'm finally caught up sorry if you wanna see when I actually watch things go to my Letterboxd). Avoided this one for a while for...obvious reasons...but it was actually very compelling. Strong and Stan are incredible to the point where it's a little scary. Glad I saw it.

Heart Eyes(2025): Watched this because I love Dropout and wanted to support Josh Ruben. Really solid time at the movies I gotta say. I laughed a good bit and some of the kills were pretty creative. When Josh showed up I pointed at the screen at my theater. Hope he continues making things!

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire(2024): My Godzilla pilgrimage ends with an incredibly ugly video game cutscene and I would be lying if I said that didn't make me sad. Hated almost every monster design here (even Godzilla sadly), and we've completely given up on human narratives. Not great.

The Kid(1921): Movie #7 for my 2025 Criterion Challenge. Got to enjoy my first Charlie Chaplin movie and while I did expect it to be funny, I was not expecting it to be so genuinely touching and moving as well. Along with presenting themes that still resonate even today. #CriterionChallenge

BlacKkKlansman(2018): Spike Lee fucking rules dude. Man was able to trick me into thinking this story was about a "good" cop fixing the system from the inside and instead gave me one of the best stories about the failings of America's institutions and the importance of continuing the fight today.

John Wick: Chapter 4(2023): Another fun and creative entry for the John Wick series. I was definitely feeling a fatigued of them by this point but I still loved a lot of what was shown to me here. Glad that this will probably be the last one. Loved the top-down segment the most.

Wild Strawberries(1957): Movie #6 of my 2025 Criterion Challenge. Also my first Bergman! I got really immersed into this one. The movie was very melancholic but left me feeling kind of hopeful still by the end. Really looking forward to seeing more of his stuff in the future.
February 27, 2025 at 11:45 PM
Godzilla Minus One(2023): The absolute peak of Godzilla imo and I got to watch it again finally with a lot of my close friends and boy howdy do I love this movie. Every mean thing I say about a lot of Godzilla movies is because I know how good Godzilla stuff can be. Watch this one please.

Red Rooms(2023): One of those movies that was so genuinely jaw dropping and incredible that I could never recommend to most of my friends because of the subject matter. If you have a strong stomach for uncomfortable topics though I highly, HIGHLY recommend this. Fantastic score as well.

Love Hurts(2025): So unbelievably bad and it sucks to say that. Mr. Quan I still think you're really cool please be in a better movie though next time thank you.
February 27, 2025 at 8:30 PM
Godzilla vs, Kong(2021): The only Monsterverse movie I at least kind of enjoyed. A lot of the insincere dialogue is gone and outside of one annoying subplot involving a conspiracy pedaling podcaster there isn't too much to dislike on the human side even if it is still half-baked. Monster stuff fun.
February 27, 2025 at 8:29 PM
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas(1998): Movie #5 for the 2025 Criterion Challenge. Never done a single non OTC or prescription drug in my entire life but I think this really gets across every possible feeling you could get from them. Love the dialogue as well. #CriterionChallenge
February 27, 2025 at 8:27 PM
Godzilla: KOTM(2019): The actual drizzling shits, still better than the anime trilogy but so absolutely unwatchable. There are three(3)! different characters constantly making jokes about whatever is happening, and at one point Godzilla runs alongside the US Military to fight Ghidorah. Hard pass.
February 27, 2025 at 8:24 PM
Sonatine(1993): Takeshi Kitano knows how to make the most unique action movies man. His films always seem to portray how incredibly isolating masculine ideals and lifestyles can become. While also surrounding those ideas with some really surreal comedy and the occasional burst of hyper violence.
February 27, 2025 at 8:22 PM
Here(2024): I know some were able to find this one kind of charming but to me it just reeks of Boomerism. Even without the main gimmick or the jarring AI de-aging tech it still wouldn't work as a narrative for me. It's kind of like watching your grandpa's favorite stage play(derogatory).
February 27, 2025 at 8:20 PM
Close Encounters of the Third King(1977): (forgot to keep updating this whoops) uhhhhh really stellar presentation of how an alien encounter might actually feel. Very whimsical in its nature. A bit too much unsubtle advertising for my taste but I guess that's how a blockbuster gets made.

Better Man(2024): I went in with such low expectations, but honestly, as far as biopics go this was incredibly entertaining. I loved every musical number and surprisingly the monkey stuff really grew on me.

2025 Oscar Nominated Animated Films: More of a mixed bag for me than the live action shorts. Higher highs and lower lows. In The Shadow of the Cyprus was my favorite, Wander to Wonder had my favorite aesthetic, didn't care too much for Beautiful Men and Yuck! Got to see 2 stop-motion penises tho!
