Major universities w/ massive endowments fought hard to displace impoverished people, ruining communities. But when fascists threatened funding—money these universities could easily replace—they folded immediately.

Also, for too long, the loudest voices of Christianity in the US have been those against the message of Jesus Christ.
I may not technically be classified as Christian but I love the teachings of Jesus and it’s really refreshing to see a prominent Christian in the US embodying them.

This matters. Not because I think Trump is capable of mercy or empathy towards these vulnerable groups. But because it is a public act of defiance.
