Formerly of the birdsite as Apark2453, but staking my claim to the full name!

Lawyer, overanalyzer of godawful subcultures, always up to dunk on some chuds.

If you’re into all of that too… I’m sorry, but welcome friend!
Problem exists between keyboard and chair.

Thankfully, solutions can be implemented locally and do not require the platform’s involvement.

I sincerely think a lot of the “six figures isn’t wealthy” articles have a nefarious purpose in pretending that people in the top 10% of income earners are really part of the struggling proletariat.

That’s what sent me back down the rabbit hole of how bad these are.

I was trying to find a source for his national average figures (itself a weird way to arrive at what he describes “the crisis threshold—the floor below which families cannot function”) and it’s bad methodology all the way down.

Sometimes you have to lose money to lose money

And even with all of generous assumption they’re still losing money in 2030 just from the cost of “compute” alone.

Yes, even using OpenAI’s own claimed expected spending of $105B rather than HSBC’s estimate of $250B.

So using the same “business playbook” resulting in more than times as much money seems… questionable. But, hell, let’s also double it and assume they make as as much money from ads as subscriptions. So revenue of $104.6B

Weird how the same researchers found both that brain development is “not a question of steady progression, but rather one of a few major turning points” and “epochs were defined by the brain remaining on a constant trend of development.”

Does “constant” not mean what I think it does?

If it were me I simply would take zero note of the “bodybuilder’s chest and biceps” of a dude old enough to be my father who’s doing his level best trying to get kids killed.

Yes.

You take obvious lies at face value, launch into a long digression into his personal history somewhere between “impressed” and “hagiographical”, give zero substantive pushback, and somehow conclude he’s “fighting to fulfill his birthright” rather than “he’s paranoid with a messiah complex”

And if the point is for people to think you’re clever or irreverently funny, reading from your phone won’t do it. It’s supposed to be spontaneous, that’s what makes it seem quick-witted

Elon’s version would be like showing up to a rap battle and reading lyrics you wrote down from existing rap songs
