Rewatch complete of Tong Kai’s slapstick revenge film that works due to Ti Lung and Derek Yee’s chemistry and the amazing action on display. Insane wirework and fire stunts combined with hard hitting fight choreography make up comedy that falls flat. The finale is a jaw dropper!

A heartfelt tale of love, the pain of loss and watching time go by while trying to figure out your place in it all. Excellent cast with Edgerton delivering one of his best performances and William H. Macy stealing the movie in his brief yet wonderful role. A truly beautiful film.

Rewatch complete of this John Woo action classic. Van Damme and mullets have never looked as cool as under Woo’s watchful eye. Henriksen is perfectly over the top while Vosloo is calculating and chilling. Stylized bloody action, jazzy soundtrack and slow-mo make this memorable.

Few things better than a training scene in a kung fu flick and Lau Kar-leung was one of the very best and MAD MONKEY KUNG FU highlighted what made him such a special director. Hsiao Ho may be one of the most physically gifted performers ever and this gives him a chance to shine!

Rewatch complete of the Lo Wei classic and the movie that cemented Bruce Lee as one of the greatest martial arts actors of all time. His unparalleled charisma, speed and power on full display. Amazing action with Bruce against the entire karate school as an absolute all-timer!

Rewatch complete of Corey Yuen’s Karate Kid clone. Cheesy story of Bruce Lee’s ghost training our hero but McKinney’s earnest performance helps. Main attraction is early JCVD whose screen presence and charisma was undeniable. Fast paced fluid choreography and a great end fight.

FIVE ELEMENT NINJA has everything I love about Shaw Brothers in one movie. Colorful characters, costumes, crazy weapons, that red paint for blood and acrobatic high octane martial arts action choreography. Pure unadulterated cinema!!

Absolutely bonkers sequel that manages to up the ante and utter ridiculousness of the first with more over the top violence, gore and action. Jorma Tommila says so much without a single word and Stephen Lang is evil incarnate. Insane set pieces and surprisingly heartfelt ending.

Rewatch complete of this entertaining crowd pleaser. Hackman is as usual excellent while Reeves brings the charm and heart backed by a terrific diverse cast, fun story and hard hitting sports action! Great characters even greater laughs along with miles and miles of heart.

Corey Yuen couldn’t help but make everyone he worked with look better than ever!! NINJA IN THE DRAGONS DEN gives us some of the best Hiroyuki Sanada martial arts action committed to film!

Rewatch complete of my favorite entry in this phenomenal series. Filled with amazingly colorful characters, sweeping score and jaw dropping action design by Kenji Tanagaki. Elevated by heartfelt thematic storytelling of the cost peace and redemption. An absolute action classic!

Satsuo Yamamoto creates a grounded gritty film filled with plenty of ninja lore, and violent action. The story and character motivations can be tough to follow but are aided by solid performances. The 3rd act ups the ninja antics and final battle is worth the price of admission!

Your next great binge watch has arrived. Incredibly interesting story filled with mystery, violent bloody action, compelling characters and great acting. Elevated by some of the best samurai action choreography along with a driving score. An absolute must see television series!

PRISONER OF WAR remains one of the best action movies of the year of any budget. Compelling characters, interesting story, hard hitting martial arts and action scenes elevated by an amazing score. An absolute must watch!

Equally entertaining and uneven action comedy. James is his usual character but it’s Alan Ritchson that is the real added value element. He gives it his all and is as charming as he is jacked! Ridiculous story, fun cast, over the top action and some legit laughs. A fun time!
