Because there were a few months between the interview and the magazine launch, a couple of things worth noting:
- Malys has since been released
- The second Level Up Tasmania event will next take place in the first half of next year, instead of having already been this August

“My fairly flexible game character tongue” is also a hell of a sentence 😂
November 7, 2025 at 2:20 AM
In the most uncomfortable sentence I’ve ever written: how many bones was the tongue?

Also who the hell “flicks” a button!? That’s the most offensive part

I’ll be looking for remote work opportunities (not looking to leave Hobart any time soon!). I’ll update my portfolio with content from Malys soon but for my previous projects you can still see them at andrewmendlik.com #techart #gamedev

In the meantime if anyone knows if anything they think I might be a good fit for, please let me know! I’ve got around 8 years of game dev experience, primarily in tech art and vfx in Unreal and Unity, but I’ve been involved in just about every aspect of development at some point.

For now, I’ve got some freelance work that I already had underway before this redundancy, and I’m gonna try and take a little time to rest and recuperate from a stressful few months.

In the near future I’ll start actively looking for new opportunities.

I’m immensely grateful to @liamesler.bsky.social for inviting me on to do VFX for Stray Gods just over 3 years ago, which turned into working on 4 different projects and 3 releases with an amazing team of kind and talented people.

Summerfall really set the bar high for what a studio can be.
