Wait can you seriously not get a refundable train fare for Edinburgh to London unless you pay for the £200 anytime single? £120 return feels cheeky enough, esp when it's only £60 return to fly. What's a climate crisis?

100% agree. I pay a few quid to Bitwarden, Signal, and Wikipedia and don't even use the premium features - it's just nice to have reliable software that's not circling the VC drainpipe
Honestly, Bluesky should open up voluntary subscriptions a la Signal or Wikipedia *right now*, with a commitment to keep basic access free and open, never to throttle links, and to be user-focused and friendly to news and creators — I think they'd be pleasantly surprised.
