Practicing in rural New Mexico, a previously healthy patient who suddenly needs an ICU, and has thrombocytopenia as only finding on workup, would make me think of hantavirus, except they need intubation and then ECMO, not pressors.

There’s two political spectra in this country: public opinion and elite opinion. Political terminology, like “centrist” or “progressive,” is defined in DC by reference to elite opinion, which is much more economically conservative than popular opinion is.

TSP, the federal equivalent of 401k, doesn’t give me that option. I pulled out of US equities and into a three way split of the TSP index funds for treasuries, corporate bonds, and foreign stocks. Here’s hoping that holds up.
