James Wood was a finalist for an NL Silver Slugger but didn’t win the award. Juan Soto, Corbin Carroll and Kyle Tucker are the 2025 NL outfield recipients. Here’s how he stacked up against Carroll/Tucker:

Here's what Paul Toboni said when @granthpaulsen.bsky.social asked him if he made decisions on the staff changes or if he received help from others in the process:

Season 4 (🤯) is complete! An extremely eventful one. Thanks to everyone who followed along, really blessed to do this job!

A special thanks to my guy, @spencernusbaum.bsky.social and our editor, @sarahlarimer.bsky.social! Should be a busy offseason.

Classy from the Nationals — the whole team came out of the dugout to tip their cap to Bob Carpenter before first pitch:

Andrew Alvarez has four strikeouts through three innings, two swinging and two looking. He's not getting many whiffs (2 in 17 swings), but generating a lot of weak contact.

Bases were loaded in the 4th for Dylan Crews. He grounded into a double play on a ball he hit right in front of home.

2-1 Braves, top 5.

The Nationals loaded the bases in the fourth inning. CJ Abrams worked a full count. He was called out on strikes.

Assistant hitting coach Chris Johnson just got tossed from the game. Brutal. Would've tied the game.

Lineup for Game 1. Adrian Houser vs. Mitchell Parker. Daylen Lile is back in the lineup:

They went to a full count and Stanton hit a three-run double off the wall in left field.

And here is that lineup:

Josh Bell just hit his 16th homer of the season. He clenched his fists when he touched first base. The Nationals' have a four-run lead once again.

Miguel Cairo and Carlos Mendoza take a photo with their lineup cards. First MLB game managed by two Venezuelan natives. Pretty cool moment.

This is quite the lineup! Aaron Nola vs. Mitchell Parker:

A’s catcher Willie MacIver on the Nationals lineup that featured 6 lefties (via @d1scourse.bsky.social)

“When we saw their lineup had six lefties in it, we’re like ‘All right, we can have a good day today.’”
August 7, 2025 at 7:21 PM
Nathaniel Lowe just lost a 17-pitch at-bat against Jacob Lopez. He struck out looking. If anything, he ensured Lopez wouldn't throw a complete game shutout because now he's at 107 pitches.
August 7, 2025 at 6:18 PM
Paul DeJong made a throwing error on a grounder that should've ended the inning. Then, Shea Langliers picked up the first hit of the game with a single up the middle.

But Cavalli struck out Nick Kurtz with a fastball up in the zone. Can't put a pitch in a better spot to a lefty:
August 6, 2025 at 11:27 PM
Cade Cavalli threw a 100.1 mph fastball in his at-bat against Brent Rooker and struck him out with a 99.9 mph fastball. An impressive 1-2-3 first. Struck out a pair of hitters.

Can you tell he's fired up?
August 6, 2025 at 10:53 PM
For the last two seasons, if I got to the stadium early enough, I noticed Miguel Cairo running either on the field or in the stands.

So after the all-star break, I asked if I could run with him and interview him. Here’s what we talked about:

And one more from the presser -- Mike DeBartolo talked about Kyle Finnegan's impact on the Nationals:
July 31, 2025 at 11:23 PM
Threading notes from Interim GM Mike DeBartolo's press conference. (1/3)

First, here's what he had to say about the decision to not trade MacKenzie Gore:
July 31, 2025 at 11:23 PM
MacKenzie Gore just allowed a two-run homer in the sixth inning to Cooper Hummel. He had words for the umpire after the homer.

He wasn't happy pitch 5 wasn't called strike 3. Would've been the second out of the inning:
