There is no mass motivation amongst politicians to go after those they see as closest to them in social standing. It sets a precedent for future retaliation and the Right will always out bastard the Left in those circumstances. Not to mention it'll annoy their actual paymasters.

The residents had reportedly made complaints about safety for while before the fire. If nothing else the external cladding contravened building regulations.
