I know what I'm thankful for this week: critical studies of genetics and genomics.

But if *you* want a reminder, I very much recommend "Venomous Lumpsucker" by Ned Beauman. A heart-wrenching, hilarious, terrifying piece of fiction on extinction, AI, commodification, and the future.

I buy fewer and fewer books these days—but I am delighted to have snaffled this new one from the excellent Sebastián Gil-Riaño.
