Gretna Police says five people were taken into ICE custody on Wednesday.

Gretna Police say the operation happened at Home Depot when one person managed to run from ICE and was eventually arrested in Floor and Decor.

ICE has not released anyone's identities or reasons for why they were arrested.

Associated Press reports that Border Patrol officials will be in town through the weekend ahead of Operation Swamp Sweep.

They are setting up a command site at the FBI Field Office and using the Naval Air Station for storage of vehicles, equipment, tear gas and pepper balls.

Jefferson Parish Schools, the school district with the largest Hispanic population in Louisiana, says new Homeland Security policies no longer restricts federal immigration agents from entering schools.

The district says it will do everything it can to ensure student safety.

The Department of Homeland Security will deploy 250 federal immigration agents to Louisiana in a massive immigration enforcement operation according to the Associated Press.

The New Orleans Police Department will hold a briefing with Border Patrol about the operation this week.

On WBOK, NOPD Chief Anne Kirkpatrick says she will soon be brief on Border Patrol deployment in New Orleans.

Plans are still in the works but she stresses NOPD officers will not help arrest or identify immigrants.

Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries worked with federal immigration agents to arrest 10 oyster harvesters for immigration violations.

Officials did not release any identities or what the violations were.

The arrested were made on November 3 in both Terrebonne and St. Bernard Parishes.

ICE New Orleans arrested 25 undocumented Honduran workers for Barrois Welding Services, at a shipyard in Harvey, Louisiana.

ICE said some of the workers had a criminal past - mainly for non-violent offenses.

Officials have not released the workers’ identities.

On Wednesday, Governor Jeff Landry, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and other Trump officials will announce a new facility at Angola Prison to house the “worst of the worst” immigrants arrested by ICE.

Angola is a maximum security facility that can house 6,000. It used to be a plantation.
