I’m surprised that with all the macho protein muscle building ingredients & foodstuffs, they are putting protein into sodas! That they haven’t yet just taken straight egg yolks and sold it as a savory protein drink. Or frankly just whip the whole thing whites and all, homogenized “PRIMITIVE PROTEIN”

What’s the state of Meshtastic/LoRA comms in the Minneapolis active region right now? Are people using encrypted chat rooms or DMs?

It should be illegal for HBO to only release one episode of 'the pitt' at a time.

OK! I think most of the talks have been transcribed and posted so I'll breakdown some of the interesting and also annoying talks of 39C3 that I was able to see and also watch later. It's so hard to see them all, theres 3 huge halls and there is always something interesting happening but here it is:

A few more drives until I get to 300TB. Maybe 20 more drives, including a few spares.

Does the tar included with Mac OS really not support multithreading natively??? I had to download gnutar to see improvements with zstd. Seems like such an easy win. Maybe the parameters are really different or something?

block lists were and will always be problematic. Maybe we’ll figure it out on the next social media network.

Maybe it was a bad idea giving the Venezuelan opposition party lady a Nobel peace price, huh? I think that’s what some guy called ‘manufacturing consent’. Before anyone thinks this was generated solely from trappings of power in DC.

Instagram showed me an ad for ‘algoriddim djay’ with Spotify playlist capability. The app started as a laptop, mobile dj mixing app but recently added a way to just use your Spotify music if you’re a premium sub. I would leave the club if I knew someone was playing tracks off Spotify as a pro dj 😤

Hinodeya Ramen Bar
Little Tokyo, Los Angeles

This is the slightly unusual chicken soup ramen, usually you see pork miso or other bases. I don’t know if it’s just their chicken broth base but it leaves a little bit of a tingly almost numbing like Szechuan food feeling. Overall not bad

Looking forward to seeing folks there. If we are mutuals and you're going too, text me!

If you have an extra ticket, DM me and I'll buy it full price.

You would need twenty two 18TB drives in RAID-Z1 to hold these 300TB of songs. Which honestly is pretty good cause you could probably use refurbished drives and lose one drive a year and the array would be fine since there is so much mirroring. Two drive groups.
Backing up Spotify
We backed up Spotify (metadata and music files). It’s distributed in bulk torrents (~300TB). It’s the world’s first “preservation archive” for music which is fully open (meaning it can easily be mirro...
