Don't often look forward to the postie arriving but I did today. They brought me a copy of @davehone.bsky.social and @markwitton.bsky.social 's Spinosaut Tales. This should be very interesting.

Not arctic and a poor photo but here's a Nottingham fox asleep in my back garden.

A dinosaur for me I'd say.

New guide book day. Peak Bagging Peak District by Anna Paxton from Vertebrate Publishing.

Nice book with a load of interesting routes for an area I love.

Bought for nostalgia's sake. I really doubt I'll ever walk the Larapinta Trail again.

Never going to be going on long walks in Australia again but I can't help reading about them. Just bought the guide for the Australian Alps Walking Track (AAWT), not an easy walk and I didn't even walk the Victorian sections which are the hardest bits.

Miss the Oz High Country.

A nice memory from a time when I had better health and a trip to Galloway and Dumfries. It was so lovely.

No idea what these are, the seem to be some sort of "weed" but they're pretty.

I do like a back garden meadow, everything swaying gently in the wind.

In between naps today has been about dinosaurs, reading about outrigger canoes/proas and sunset making the white flowers of the tree behind us gently glow.

I've seen this png of a blue sky post doing the rounds of several discord channels and loved it.

This would be so me.

When stuck at home alone make sure you have a cute cuddly dinosaur.
March 22, 2025 at 12:42 PM
If I decide that the 3 foot long plushie dino is an Argentinosaurus I cute go all cutesy and call it Tina.

I have a dinosaur. An IKEA plush generic sauropod. Cute!

Haven't done a bedroom view for quite a while but since it is nice out here is one.

Very grey day plus migraine but I have new reading material to help cheer me up.

Day Walks in Lincolnshire by Anna Paxton is brand new from Vertebrate Publishing - @newclimber.bsky.social is keeping up the output of books I want.

Cruising Yachts by Butler is from 1945. This edition 1995.

Another of my pre-orders from Vertebrate Publishing has arrived.
It is Walk Britain by Elise Downing and from the bits I've looked at is very interesting.
February 8, 2025 at 1:19 PM
Of course I've bought a guide book to one of those interesting things my body won't let me do.

The Cicerone guide to the Via de la Plata (and Camino Sanabres) in Spain. Some of the scenery reminds me a lot of places I used to walk in Oz. Australia doesn't have Roman ruins though.

It would seem @newclimber.bsky.social is being extra efficient. My copy of Mountain Walks Ben Nevis arrived this morning. 😄

It's still a guidebook, but for sailing places. A different dream but like the others it's decades old. This one hasn't come true.

Normally when I'm having a rough time I get out the OS maps and plan possible routes. This time however I've dug out a set of boat building plans.

I missed doing that round the world trip in a stupidly small sailboat, and I'm a bit grumpy about it sometimes.

We've a fox visiting. It seems a bit mangy unfortunately but it is lovely to have wildlife in the garden.
