Some experiments with Madrona Labs’ Sumu! It breaks a sound into 64 partials, and lets you FM/AM those partials individually, then lets you move them around in a space SoundParticles style (but with a lot less control). A very cool synth that I’m yet to fully understand!

I enjoy a bit of personality in my synthesiser manuals! And what a great sounding synth, too!

A lot of the movement sounds were recorded with a skateboard, not rollerblades, actually! I taped some wireless mics and rolled around and did some ollies, and prayed every time that I didn’t land on the mics. All good, so far! Will be recording some more, though

There’s also this place in Shibuya! I was there in 2019, paid way too much for akevitt and Norwegian beer:p

I’m only cheating a little bit using the MOOD for some additional vibes, sampling from the Monomachine and feeding it back in. I’m showing maybe 10% of what it can do here

Yes! A classic with a classic! Settle into the Elektron Monomachine with the Bruichladdich Classic Laddie. This is a contrasting pairing with the fairly accessible, not overly complex Laddie, settling into the background while still present in what is a fairly complex and weird synth.

I’ve been lucky to work on a few documentaries telling refugee stories. This here is Farhad, a Kurdish refugee who made it to Australia and now makes wine and spirits in Melbourne. Australia is amazing, but holy shit does it need to treat refugees better. Inhumane does not describe it.

Just spent 5 days camping by the ocean and I feel I’ve returned a new person. Queensland is so beautiful

I’m not too excited about the “this is the peatiest whisky ever” thing that is happening, but these Octomores are genuinely nice, especially the 12.2. I’m discovering that I’m really into pairing peat and sweetness.
