When Boudicca razed Colchester in AD60 the destruction left a distinct layer of debris. This helmet was made using helmet fragments from this layer.

A tombstone of Glykylla dating to 430-410 BC. She is depicted adjusting a bracelet whilst a maid holds a box open (perhaps she was deciding which one to put on). Tombstones such as this one foster a sense of the person. It's quite touching.

A Corinthian lekythos (circa 575 BC) depicting a warrior falling in battle. A complex composition and lots of detail. Stunning.

A scene from the wedding of Peleus and Thetis on a wine bowl. Here Peleus welcomes the goddess Iris. The artist was Sophilos who has written 'Sophilos painted this' inbetween the columns. Athenian circa 580 BC. #ancientgreece #greekmythology
