except the epstein stuff showed that there IS a vast conspiracy of elite child rapists. it's just a much more prosaic, traditional one. as carlin said: "there's a club and you aren't in it."

highly recommend. it's quite short. i read it in one sitting the first time and almost just turned back to page one and started over. i didn't want it to end.

will try to read it again before seeing the film. denis johnson was a master.

all due respect but i'm so over my side refusing to police our own missteps. the gop was able to "weaponize" that slogan because it was fostered and promoted widely within our movement, to catastrophic effect. there are many other such examples in recent memory, unfortunately.

the lack of traffic enforcement is a major bummer. stay 1 minute too long at a meter and get a $100 ticket but blow through stop signs and traffic lights to your heart's content!

i saw sfpd pull someone over near our house in bernal flats the other day. i wanted to give the cop a standing ovation.

easy fix: tax above a certain net worth at 99%, fund public schools and name them after the people taxed. win-win.

my favorite recent example: was at sporting goods store, which was out of stock on the item i wanted. i asked at the counter if i could please order it for pickup from them. no, i was told, i must order it on their website.

me: but i can see it on your screen right now.

clerk, oblivious: and?
