This is the first time in my 30 year library career that I have contacted the ALA OFL about a challenge. I never expected that the challenge would be coming from my own administration.

The trustees seem to have interpreted a new program policy that mentions inclusivity to mean that every program has to have an opposite version. They specifically mentioned that if we had a pride program we need to have someone come talk about conversion therapy. I can't even with these biddies.

We have 3 circulating Magna-Tile sets and 1 in-room use set of weirdo spare parts and despite my obsessive labeling and organizing they are never correct. I swear some folks borrow all 3 sets, dump them out willy-nilly, put them in whatever box is handy and bring them back that way.

My new colleague just called her kids' book club "chapter chasers" and well, I've been on the internet too long.

I truly meant to get up at 6:30 to go buy groceries but was so dead tired I reset my alarm and slept for 2 more hours.
Ended up ordering the groceries online so if I end up serving random food on Thursday, that’s why.

Just a warning that if you think you forgot to take your GLP-1 for a week but it was really 2 weeks your body will react to this week’s dose like it did at the beginning. So now in addition to my endless cold I have GI stuff going on. Did I mention that my executive function tanks when i am sick?

If I were a crank who wrote endless letters to the editor about my pet peeve I would complain exclusively about the people who go 30 mph in the passing lane on the section of Rt. 1 that has a limit of 55. I make that trip 10 times a week and I inevitably end up surrounded by slow-pokes.

I heard a scholar refer to King Henry VIII as a serial killer and that’s a take I will be pondering for a bit.

Planning for holiday meals around here involves multiple binders, spreadsheets, timetables and shopping lists. I’m serving 10 people but my brain thinks I’m having a cast of thousands.

I was planning to get my PhD in Medieval literature but after undergrad I unexpectedly became a single mom. I was trying to figure out something more practical and realized I could get an MLIS and here I am.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

There was such a overpowering weed smell in the library today, like, I get it, I’d rather be stoned there, too, but, dude, c’mon.

Attention- people dreading making a whole damn bird next week: you don’t have to! You can make turkey tenderloins and everyone will be thrilled. Well, maybe not that freaky uncle who only likes dark meat, but everyone else will. I promise.

I would just like my body temp to stay, on average, at 98.6 degrees. I don’t need to be 99.3 degrees. Nobody needs that.

I was listening to a random Spotify playlist in the car and tried to skip a song but hit the wrong button so the song kept playing over and over and it was a club version of “there she goes” and I finally had to just turn the stereo off and drive in silence the rest of the way home.

Angry 10 year old: *bursts into tears*
Mom: We're going home

Mom: I'm going to take you to the police station
Me: WHAT?!?!?

They are now sitting on the floor angrily negotiating the terms of leaving the library. This kid isn't even old enough to be in the teen room!

I met a teen at the library who likes to use headphones for anxiety reasons. Her school won’t let her have them as an accommodation because they don’t think it’s “that bad.” She’s not even listening to music, just blocking sounds!
