I find that so sad!! the whole fan-service culture in general is absolutely detrimental to good storytelling in any form, imo. foreshadowing is what makes suspense/dramatic/darker stories FUN to read. it's not about being shocking, it's about telling a good story that wraps up into smth interesting

spoilers for me are hints or reactions that are published or shared before I get to experience the book/show/art/artwork by myself. say, a marketing campaign for a show or people sharing behind the scenes stuff giving things away. Not things in the show or text itself
