If there was no deal to be had then it is politically savvy to maintain a position which shows that Republicans didn’t want to deal. Capitulating to their positions for *nothing* does nothing.

Hey bud, your reasoning sucks and is working to defend fascist collaborators.

Lateral changes aren’t fixes and you haven’t demonstrated how this lateral change is actually bad.

“Color restrictions” is a keystone in many of the status quo arguments, but this format has already made a change to enable some decks and strategies by enabling off color mana production. The format has already shown that its willing to flex on its own rules around color restrictions.

Oh noooooo it allows for less than 460 more options, a ~0.02% total increase in card options.

The inability to produce offcolor mana was a key feature to the format is my point. It was a format rule that was changed to enable decks to produce off color mana, removing a color restriction.

The core rules of the format allow the production of off color mana, so I fail to see how allowing hybrid card choices actually harms the exclusionary nature of commander by giving room for the flexibility that is inherent within color philosophy thru hybrid cards.

The number of cards that can overlap between decks is increased with every set release. Promoting diversity in card inclusion cuts both ways here. Taking away choices can do this, but so can enabling choices.

Like, honestly the discussion around this topic is very much like this:

The Proft’s Eidetic Memory ban also feels weird to me, but drawing cards is already good, so I’m fine with it

It’s how I’m receiving the complaint. The risk of having a dead card exists in every game, it is not unique to the commander format. The hybrid change makes your dead card not dead more often.

Gonna ask how enabling hybrid mana to actually be hybrid instead of an offshoot of gold multicolor is bad for the format
November 10, 2025 at 7:58 PM
Still not sure why the Blue Elemental Blast players are upset that their dead card against mono white might not actually be dead if the hybrid change is made.

The screaming nemesis ban feels a little left field. Dunno what to think really.
