The image of Hoseok shooting an arrow led me to another show that I love, Inu Yasha, in which a bow&arrow-wielding priestess named Kikyo falls in love with a half-demon. She dies thinking her lover betrayed her, and resurrects as both a demon (corrupted innocence!) and new priestess.

As I perused the Blood Sweat and Tears MV for images to use, I captured this frame with Hobi shooting his bow. In the fic, betas are supposed to be incapable of violence but Hoseok is different, and I wanted to show Hoseok with some agency.

I've loved this image from Blood Sweat and Tears MV for a long time. One of my favorite themes was embracing one's inner chaos as a source of self-acceptance and power. "You must keep chaos inside you to give birth to dancing stars." This heavily influenced the mother character in my fic.

The name "Sympathy for the Devil" is from an episode of Cowboy Bebop in which a young boy becomes immortal when an astral gate explodes. The story explores the idea of evil as corrupted innocence, ie - one's propensity for evil is proportionate to one's innocence before some transformative event.

My collage art includes images of the King and the Peasant from the Daechwita MV. They reminded me strongly of Spike and Vicious from Cowboy Bebop, one of my favorite anime. Suga and Agust in my fic are heavily based on those characters.

I posted a new chapter of Sympathy for the Devil. This new chapter is special because it isn't part of the storyline, its a behind the scenes of the fic, including a breakdown of my collage artwork. I've been wanting to share more about the thoughts behind my fics, so I'm really excited about it.

I went out! I got the Maklouba, which was very highly recommended to be by a random guy I met at a protest recently. And I did some storyboarding for my next fic while I ate. So yay, although...

Chapters 5 and 6 are up!

I got distracted by some world events this week, plus I also got a bee up my butt to make some new cover art for this fic. I really love this image (another GIMP special) and I'll probably do a post about all of the references in it but maybe its more fun to find them.

By the way, I made the cover art in GIMP. It's an open-source graphics editor. I finally feel like I have the hang of it. Maybe one day I'll make a video of how I use it. But, yeah, these are the source images I used to make it.

I'm thinking of an omegaverse AU based on the Haegum MV. Twins Suga and Agust are determined to kill each other, locked in an unearthly battle that threatens to tear apart the whole underworld. But no one truly understands the unique nature of their relationship, not even the twins themselves.
