My hypothesis is this might be an "ask people to participate" story. So, demobilized over demoralized. There aren't clear age divides in external efficacy (eg, think politicians don't care what people think). Everyone is low. To get young people active then ask them.

If we look at two other racial attitude items in the CES, the age gradient is not consistent. Looks much more like a party story for whites. So worth of campaign strategy seems less about core partisans and more where independents fall. Also reinforces these attitudes as likely party-inflected.

Old data nuggets always interesting. Here from Key's Public Opinion a note that even 5 years after Taft-Hartley many union members had no idea about it. Raises Qs about what unions do in shaping opinion as many arguments claim. Would expect much higher opinionation rates.

At some point we lost interest in assessing the robustness of findings using A/D scales to acquiescence bias. Here's a 1967 piece from H. McClosky.

The in-party extremity perceptions here are interesting. As are the "respectful and tolerant" assessments.

A student nicely pointed out that the correlated uniquenesses model I showed looked like Darth Vader's helmet.

Also had fun discussions about how experimental treatments could be manipulating attitudes related to response tendencies effects rather than trait, so ATEs are method effects.

Perceptual differences by education among Dems, including pundits, seems informative too on whether candidates are "too moderate."

Nice to see the DNC finally get somewhere on something they've been working on for over like a year. Also interesting pairing this with a fundraising solicitation.

Came across this Pew media consumption report from earlier this year. Lots of informative stuff in here. Found interesting this chart on audience characteristics given the juxtaposition of outlets with the most left-leaning versus most right-leaning audiences.
