Some 200c/kg marvels at Braidwood today - not quite your usual prime sale offering but very sweet all the same.

Now Orange has an Urgent Care Clinic, but at this point it was too painful to drive much, and I didn't want to be yet another patient taking up space, so I forked out $80 to join the queue at the mixed billing practice in Cowra. Four doses of local anaesthetic later, the splinter was still there.

I just about fell off my chair when my colleague Liz sent through the pics she was able to snap (at very little notice, thank you Liz) for this story. A farmer for climate action, indeed!

The final boxes are unpacked and the home office is set up, and there’s finally time to take a breather and spread the news - rural reporting is alive and well in Canberra 🗞️

The lease has wrapped in Cowra, so I'm bringing some country back to the bush capital for the next 12-18 months.

Baby dhalarug-wattlebird! 🐣 So confident and not at all afraid to scream at me for food

DAFF have released this image of what to look out for in new and used nappies - pictured here on grains of rice.

Early bird gets the worm (or the carp) or something like that. 🪱 🐟

One carp story coming up, after coffee.

Three hours and three doses of local later, the damned splinter is still in, but thankfully still have a fingernail. Big ups to CSU for having rural medicine students in Cowra, love to see it!

Redhead v local anaesthetic: double dosed up and still have feeling in the finger, whoops.

I think when my insurance is up for renewal in October I need to see which company offers 3+ repairs in a year because this is a bit much.
August 22, 2025 at 5:44 AM
At what point can my insurance directly go to Cowra Council for the 2 l chip repairs and likely now 2 windscreen replacements within 12 months ☠️

Scored this huge one driving to the tip.

These rams are remarkably relaxed considering the butchering session right in front of them. 🐏

🧵 Quite a few records have dropped at NSW saleyards this week, and one pen of certified Big Bois took me by surprise. 🐏

PBS under threat? Time to share my fave healthcare image! This bad boy has helped me work rurally, get down into the dirt of paddocks and increased productivity because I'm not home sick. 🤧

In the 3 years I've been on dupilumab, I've spent less on PBS scripts than a single non-PBS box.

Lemme tell you, I'm happy the brakes were serviced two days ago 🐄 Gorgeous gal on a quest for nice grass at the TSR

🚨 Lambie alert 🚨

First-year vet student Kaitlyn Rutledge mentioned she was at home with poddy lambs partway through an interview yesterday, I came running! 🐑

It's at the point where I'm seeing deer on a daily basis. This is less than 100m from a road, and about 300m from backyards in Cowra.

Big news day - and my second cover so far! 🥳

Nearly 30 readers wrote in to share stories of awful roads, sharing pictures and plenty of their time to detail the more than $3bn problem on our rural road network. 🚧 🚚 Online links below, and available at the newsagent!

Any excuse to go digging through the digital archives, today's topic: sheep and shearing sheds 🐏 Here's to women in ag, with one young lady featured as a Merino stud breeder as early as 1934!

Six months at The Land today 🤠

From a federal election, to floods and now drought, I've dodged kangaroos, echidnas and snakes, sent one car to the wreckers, made the front page and seen my articles stuck into shop windows. Rural reporting is the best job, and I wouldn't trade it for the world 🐄
