Book 10 is the pinnacle of the slog. Who’s told you it’s not part of the slog? They were having a laugh clearly! While people disagree on the starting point of the slog, I think book 10 is almost universally recognised as the slog.

The West Bank has been shrinking geographically as Palestinians are forced out to make way for Jewish settlements. It’s apartheid and there is probably a case for the process of removal from the land to be ethnic cleansing. Certainly that happened in 1948 during Al Nakba in both Gaza and West Bank.

Gathering Storm is my favourite of the 14 books. But I enjoy all three of them. And I also enjoy Jordan’s.

It’s definitely worth giving it a go. I’ve seen some show onlies who absolutely love it and deeply invested.
