well i guess the reason is the duffer brothers think we won't take the stakes seriously unless they kill someone we care about, but they don't want to kill a recurring character - especially not a kid - FAIR - so every new season they introduce some doe-eyed sweetheart to sacrifice. motherfuckers

i mean he also did not ~abandon~ chrissy as she was. very dead. by the time he ran away. but now in the upside-down it's the PLAN to run away? he is not leaving ANYONE behind? i'm watching this boy choose not to seek shelter and instead stand in a swarm of demobats for no gotdang reason

like buying more time i marginally get even though eddie and dustin have literally done exactly what they were supposed to do in the time they planned for; but eddie standing his ground instead of running away makes NO SENSE in the context of chrissy because HE'S NOT ABANDONING ANYONE

like. i've seen interviews with metallica. they are so hype for this whole storyline? they love joseph quinn? they'd have 100% shares just the guitar stems for this purpose. or even rerecorded it. the stranger things budget is insane. why can't we use it for fun shit

5) this is both a question and a note: why did we get the actual "master of puppets" track? better storytelling would have been to explicitly, repeatedly introduce the song way earlier in eddie's narrative so we'd recognize it, but give us an ACTUAL GUITAR SOLO when he's playing in the finale

i do also think that s4 did the absolute least it could do in exploring eleven resorting to physically assaulting angela when she doesn't have access to her powers. literally at no point has she been taught like the rest of us when it is and isn't okay to use violence

there is more and better sexual tension in the single moment where robin kneels so nancy can step on her knee to climb the rope to the upside-down than there is in ALL of the steve/nancy moments in all of canon combined. FRANKLY. (sorry also to jonathan. but he's got argyle.)
