Sociologist and demographer. Never repping coauthors or institutions or anything like that.
Especially at a moment when... disruption is already ongoing?

I didn’t expect to feel so sick to my stomach.

Just capacious failures all around.

This is such a failure of institutions and values, but it’s also possible to Blame Frequentism.

When I became a demographer I expected to be constantly brawling about what the state should and shouldn't collect. It's still wild to me that we don't! But I was wrong about a lot 🤷‍♀️

Oh my lord. What a sad interview. I stopped when she argued that Me Too's demand for accountability for sexual predation was a sex panic. I was really struck by how assiduously she assumes away any role for power. I'm so tired to trying to understand how and why people like her do that.

There are so many ways to get to the truth that the need for abortion care is inevitable.
November 18, 2025 at 4:55 PM
But to your point: abortion is such a canary in the coal mine for the problems that emerge when socialized care systems are built on the assumption that improved access/care removes the need for services that - in privatized care systems - are often needed *because of* poor access or poor care.

Absolutely. I also think that the fight over physician objections to providing early MAB or PAB was never fully resolved in Norway.

Yikes on bikes, indeed

I feel so sorry for people who do not know this. Babies! They're GREAT! 😍😍😍

What is the point of medicine? Because it isn't health at this point.
November 17, 2025 at 10:27 PM
Now we're letting them remain intentionally ignorant about how to save lives.

oh my god. truly.

In my lifetime the masculine ideal has tilted from protection to supremacy and impunity. Both enable abuse, but the latter is so much more open about it.
