best thing i've read this week, from www.dukeupress.edu/feminism-aga...:

"[...]history is far less cis than one might anticipate."

"Every sex and gender is a historically contingent, invented category. It's time to start treating them all that way."

today in millennial culture updates: chad michael murray dressed as danny from grease in a québécois ad for sugar-free orange crush n’ looking like he doesn’t wanna be anything other than what he’s been tryna be lately

Researching 1950s sex ed films for a chapter I'm working on. This important message comes from "Molly Grows Up" (1953). Anyone on their period right now: only moderately fast games for you! Also important to know that washing your hair is, in fact, safe to do.

Getting back to my research...I cannot state how much I love the Women's Magazine Archive. This is from a 1958 Ladies' Home Journal issue, capturing a postwar moral panic over increased teen pregnancies. 1957 was a high for teen pregnancy in the US.

ATTN: My two cats who couldn’t be in the same room six months ago are now sleeping in a loving embrace. This is very significant news. I will celebrate by showering them with baby-voiced compliments and head kisses until I am inevitably exiled.

Finally caught up on Heather O’Neill’s The Capital of Dreams— a devastating meditation (manifesto) on the role of language & art during/after war and genocide. Had the privilege of seeing her speak in October; one of the most interesting author talks I’ve been to
