Teachers are struggling to manage complexity in the modern classroom. The Minister is pleased that his government was able to provide more funding for education…but Alberta still has the lowest funding per student in the country.

It’s my privilege to stand with education workers. Hundreds of millions of dollars in bloated private surgical contracts and yet the UCP can’t scrape together more than a few cents for support workers who haven’t seen a raise in a decade. Enough is enough.

Will next week’s budget prioritize funding for education? Or will it be more excuses from the UCP?

A Ministerial Order was issued (when education support workers went on strike) that allowed school boards to not allow in person learning for kids who have EA support in classrooms. It was challenged in the courts and an injunction against the order has been obtained.

EAs deserve a raise. They haven’t had one in a decade for a job that has become increasingly demanding.

The UCP needs to stop shirking their responsibility and take action to address low wages so that EAs can get back in the classrooms.

Second verse, same as the first. Education support workers in Edmonton are on strike now.

Don’t let the UCP gaslight you.

The government is the funder for these critical workers. The UCP is choosing to fund education at the lowest level in the country. That choice has consequences.

End of an era vibes today with Rachel Notley announcing her resignation as MLA for Edmonton-Strathcona. At a MacHall rally in 2015, Rachel Notley put the fire in me to get up and start working towards a vision of a more compassionate, responsible, and ethical government.

Thank you, Rachel. 🧡

The UCP’s proposed change from opt-out to opt-in will add barriers between kids and important sexual health education.

Our kids have a right to access this critical information.
