I found out my uncle and older brother have never finished a book in their entire lives while I’ve already finished three this year 😬😳

The GoFundMe for Renee Good’s wife and son has blown past $130,000, and from what I can tell, the vast majority of those donations are under $500. An amazing swell of grassroots support for this family gofund.me/8b7c8cf8a

I’m starting a writing challenge hosted by Forest and Fawn tomorrow and I’m wondering if anyone on here is participating too. It’s been a long time since I’ve finished any written pieces but I’m inspired by all of the reading I’ve done this year.

(Will’s coming out was written by straight people for straight people and this is the hill I’ll die on.)

No one has talked about the newest season of the Witcher, I didn’t even realize it was out. It’s not a bad season, sure Jaskier definitely carries the scenes with Geralt but I would always take more Jaskier. Laurence Fishburne playing Regis, a vampire who’s a healer, is a delight.

Instead of doing anything to make anyone lives actually better, the US is making things much worse for more people.

I read 24 books this year. The last time I ever came this close to reading this much was a decade ago in college. I started listening to audiobooks and it was a big game changer for me. I hope to read even more next year.

I want everyone in this country to have a dignified life and I’m tired of waking up to this administration causing more harm to enrich the few. It’s so hard to stay hopeful but we deserve to live in one of the most prosperous countries that benefits the many and not the few.

Rob Reiner: “Silence in the face of authoritarianism is complicity. Speaking out is a patriotic act. Democracy doesn’t defend itself. It requires participation, vigilance, and courage from ordinary people."

I haven’t cried for a celebrity since Robin Williams’ death. I cried for Rob Reiner this morning. My sister and I were talking about how terrible people made some of our favorite content from growing up but Rob was a bright light and is gone way too soon.

I told my wife how I want to be an artist then followed it up with at what point does someone become an artist? I’ve made art my whole life but I still don’t consider myself an artist.

Do you become one when you have your first show or do you wake up one day and decide that’s who you are?

I get that USPS workers have a hard time but being extremely critical of how we label the mailbox on our house isn’t going to help. We complained the carrier was holding our mail but it’s our fault for not listing my wife’s deadname on the box for the once in awhile mail that is addressed like that.

“All Hallows” by Christopher Golden captures the ambience of a 1980s Halloween that we all crave. I’m not usually a fan of multiple perspectives but Golden weaves together a story about a neighborhood loosing all its innocences on one night.

9/11 started an era of fear, hatred, and division in this country. I woke up seeing the news of Mamdani’s victory over a political dynasty that ran on that fear and hatred. I feel the sun rising on a new era that embraces joy and diversity. Congratulations to the new America’s Mayor and NYC.
