Sneaking Gollum into my parents' holiday tree gives me glee.

I've moved Gollum each day, no one has commented, which is fine, gives feel of getting away with something.

Annual bird production commencing. First one: two days. Second: two movies today.

Trying different things for the body volume: I have limited roving on hand, and the only places in Sudbury that sell wool roving is small quantities for high cost. Plus potentially wears out my body less

Safely translocated and arrived, and skeined 220m of yarn I spun some point in last three years.

I know it is either Forest Green Heather or Jade Green Heather, and I know the roving was from Custom Mills out of Alberta, Canada, because I have spun multiple batts of it over the years

Dad to me: "don't pack too much stuff"

Me, realizing that my meds take up a small (bigger than a shoe box) plastic tote, when I take them out of the shelf they normally live on 🤦😭

Not in photo: my pencil case with injection supplies, my fibre supplements, and l-citrulline and taurine powders
December 18, 2025 at 3:59 AM
It arrived yesterday during nap (was too wiped after doctor and getting prescription to post).

Now the "can it get installed before I go to Sudbury?"

Very wiped today, either new med, or just chaos of roommate very much avoiding packing for their flight to Japan Sunday morning. So many side quests
December 12, 2025 at 10:47 PM
Lol nope.

Fuck it.

Back into windows 11, do my daily tidy in A Little to the Left - have to get myself to doctor appointment in about an hour, and two packages out for delivery -- the bumper I suspect won't actually arrive, but my meds probably will. Hoping sooner than later.

Some days, laptop will stay up for 11 hour video connection with west coast partner.

Today, was up for maybe ½ hour and keeps erroring after login. Then this new and exciting error.

Crashed with parents last night and they're like "well, it happens 🤷" and then talked about their next cruise

It's so pretty though, the snow.

The roads got noticeably worse around 15:30-16:00. Especially if I slowed down or stopped, then tried to get moving again.

Front bumper is last legs, from wheel well snow getting up in it (or roommate might have pulled into snowbank again - new one is in Etobicoke)
December 10, 2025 at 10:42 PM
Almond progress earlier. I don't know how long I was at this, playlist repeated one song a few times.

Further progress paused until the cranberries arrive - roommate made it to Costco but wasn't seeing the bag when they were on phone a moment ago
December 4, 2025 at 1:37 AM
"I'm going to make granola!"

907g of dry ingredients later, I may have tranced out a bit too much to music

Did realize we don't have enough dried cranberries, have summoned roommate to fetch before Costco closes

Have I made granola before? No.

Do I want to shove even more stuff in? Yes.

Alert! The tracking updated after sitting at sorted to incorrect terminal. Maybe we might get bumper soon

Will it show up tonight? Will it show up just as I log in for study group on West coast and roommate come interrupt?

I should have taken photo after soaking, as it was a very definite line along length of the feed section, rather than where here it extends out from section more normally.

(Fountain pens can become a very expensive hobby, because all the ink options! And then some of the pens are very expensive)
November 22, 2025 at 3:51 PM
Closeup of some sparkle in the ink pooling on page - I expected more sparkle from the inks than I generally get, but a glimmer here and there brings me joy
November 22, 2025 at 3:45 PM
Was trying to take photos of sparkle last night, and I had swapped my standard light bulb for flame bulb, so wrote this, this morning, to try to take photo of with the bright sunlight

Picked up roommate last night in the damp drizzle from their office, and the campus roadways were moody as heck.

Visual calm pause for anyone who needs it. I recorded this Sunday evening, we had no snow earlier.

The accumulation was entirely from some point after 15:00 and 19:30 when I went outside to check the cold frame and shot this.

Got myself out into sunshine.

Was going to dig up some of the wormwood to start a hole for the second elderberry, but remembered the wormwood is only thing that has thrived- that corner gets dried out in heat from large maple tree.

Stripped the leaves and seed heads, stems ready for retting.
November 4, 2025 at 4:35 PM
Came outside to make myself absorb some sunshine.

Started digging bigger hole for elderberry.

Had to take break.

Decided to prune some maple powdery mildew on leaves.

Realized one of the grafts attempted in spring succeeded!

(Probably need to try to untie twine so that it doesn't impede later)

Post something random, in hopes of a better November. Or to avoid an awful November. Whichever.

Kraft Mac and Cheese (American) versus Kraft Dinner (Canadian)

Caveat: I didn't have the skim milk called for on the KD box, so made with 2% (which is how I've always had it)

To me the difference in flavor is subtle, whereas partner finds the Canadian version too different

The salad I meant to serve last night - the Field-less leaf lettuce is amazing delicate, and mouthfeel is like fresh picked out of someone's garden.

I think it's hydroponics-- I think key is packed in cardboard with a film lid. Going to try & keep few leaves kicking around to see if go slimy

Got the turkey out of the oven. Am exhausted but mellow, roommate has us playing Secret Hitler, and I forgot how much the deck is stacked against liberals.
October 12, 2025 at 11:46 PM
Y'all. I got the hems stitched.

I have a whole bunch of warp thread ends to weave in (hadn't thought to carry them along in selvedge until toward last third of length)

Making myself prep food for tomorrow. Had to stop to eat food. Hyper focus only wants to play with thread.
October 12, 2025 at 2:17 AM
Roommate, this morning, after asking them several days ago, announced they wanted to buy a turkey for dinner tomorrow.

They were not happy when I told them they had to buy a fresh not frozen turkey for it to work.

Also, fuck, this is turning into complicated production and I'm spiking fever again.
October 11, 2025 at 6:46 PM
Running out of weft on shuttle just as I can't advance any more warp feels like winning thread chicken on the sewing machine bobbin.

(Going to go take my 12:30 meds an hour late and brush my teeth. Later I can remember how I like to tie off ends, for getting it off the loom)
