Something i also do when overwhelming with ideas in my head (creative or not) is to write as many down as i can maybe rough sletches too.
main thing is this usually stopped a single question or issue in my head going over and over and actually progress ideas with internal justifications.

It may be more to a taste to me but i tend to play a game. That the games risks dont feel to sharp or risks dont hurt as much as more quickly punishing (in ways that feel hurting some) games.
