I am a Tolkien Head and a huge fan of pulpy scifi novels, especially if they have giant stompy robots in it. I am not a literary elite.

But unpleasantness sticks to your work. Especially a certain type of unpleasantness.

I never read the series and my relationship with books was through the movies, which waxed and waned. My girl, who I lived with at the time did read the books and was disappointed by the last two. My understanding it was that whole memory device thingie that broke it for her.
