We measure the attention that research outputs receive from policy documents, mainstream news outlets, Wikipedia, social media and online reference managers. We detect sentiment of Bluesky/X posts.

Come for the attention to research. Stay for the memes.

That was our year on @bsky.app! It was a privilege to write for the wonderful community that puts up with our off-topic approach to communication. We think you're great. More threads next year!

May the rest of the year rise to meet you.

Dec 3 marked exactly a year since we added Bluesky to our research mentions tracking. We celebrated by sharing the items that got more traction here than on Twitter (as well as one example where people on Twitter are still battling misinformation.)

Joyce Carol Oates is trending.

Her most shared item we can track (so probably not most of her poetry unfortunately) is the wonderful tribute she penned for her late husband, research scientist Charlie Gross.

Amid all the Squarespace ads there's citations to research.

Oct 3: We celebrated #TeachersDay via a thread that covered Richard Burton, why Shakespeare is actually good, and I saluted a former teacher. Remarkably one of our followers had the same teacher at a different school!

Oct 5th is Teachers Day

In April 2025 the film Mr Burton introduced a new generation to the origin story of one of the greatest Welsh actors, Richard Jenkins, later Burton.

The film actually deals with a lot more. Here are some strands to pull at.

Researcher Profiles in Altmetric

Altmetric tracks research items and where they are mentioned or cited online. Searching by researcher name wasn't a feature unless you imported your own from a repository or CRIS

Today we are launching a global researcher search feature.
