If we use Freud’s psyche theory (mentioned in the games) and Zane represents Alan’s Id (the instinctual, libido driven aspect focused on pleasure) then either Alan is queer (bi or pan) or Alan has REPRESSED his sexuality, given he rejects Zane towards the end

I’ve written so much fanfic about that very concept and I will EAT IT UP when it is revealed they’re together in all that canonical glory (to the horrors and trauma of literally everyone else in the game canon)
