Seriously, UK?
Sorry I am not giving my personal and identifying data to a shady US private company subject to no regulations to feed the paranoia of 70 year-old British politicians who don't get how the internet works, you guys will need to wait till I am using this with a VPN to send me chats.

Things are moving fast… a new consent is being manufactured in real time and man does it make the paranoia and persecution that preceded this look completely and utterly artificial. We are mere pawns

The far right civil war continues. Today: the “woke right” strikes back by saying Ben Shapiro and Zionism more broadly are all about Identity Politics. Wild stuff

New Year Pope

When I was growing up flour went up in the int’l markets and the government promoted potato flour as a cheap replacement, calling it “papa-pan” (potato-bread). So now of course Peruvians are baking “Papa-pan” (Pope-bread)

I translated this to Spanish. Now you can read it in 3 languages: English, Spanish, and non-Spanish-speaking 3rd gen Latino intern using chat gpt for his racist boss. Here:

“Los Diputados Republicanos creemos en el potencial de cada estadounidense de salir adelante si abrazan el poder del trabajo”

The new Brazilian world map is a thing of beauty. Not just because it inverts the N-S axis and doesn’t use Mercator projection, but because it highlights Brazil’s geopolitical priorities in a very simple, visual, way: BRICS, the Lusophone world and the Amazon

We *will* go to the world cup”

Peruvian tabloids:
“Waiter recalls the Pope Leo XIV’s visits to Chiclayo restaurant: “he did not tip me but he always gave me a blessing”
“[he reported that] Pope Leo XIV had breakfast lunch and dinner in his locale”
Lol man I love my people hahaha
May 10, 2025 at 11:35 PM

“The Pope is Peruvian and he misses ceviche”
Find me a more Peruvian headline 😆

Apparently people got this notification in their delivery app as well: “Tasty Potatoes/Popes only S/ 10.90 in McDonalds”
May 9, 2025 at 2:02 AM
In Latin American Spanish, “Pope” and “potato” are written the same, except for gender capitalisation, so (el) Papa ⛪️ and (la) papa 🥔 sound the same. Which is making Peru’s chips brands do this bit: “Perú, Tierra de Papas”; Peru, Land of Potatoes/Popes
May 9, 2025 at 1:45 AM
“The Pope ate here” signs pop up in Chiclayo restaurants lol
