19, he/him, self-proclaimed 'catboy'; programmer (mainly webdev), hobbyist graphic & ui/ux designer in compsci. fan of design, tech, and video games. based in jakarta, indonesia.
i've been thinking about making a web-based tool for customizing font files (i.e. making static slices, enabling specific alternative characters, giving custom names, etc), and i'm kinda curious about what this can do

otherwise, it'd be just a wrapper for a python program

with Monotype's acquisition of Fontworks in 2023 and, subsequently, the sunsetting of Fontworks LETS, things definitely won't be the same — especially with the fact that the new font licensing terms are more expensive and even more limited.

Fontworks' fonts have been used very extensively within Japanese games, including most of Nintendo and Sega's games, JRPGs such as Persona, and live-service games such as Fate: Grand Order and Umamusume.

iirc during the development of ChatGPT Google actually had an in-development version of LaMDA (which would later become Gemini) but they were too reluctant to release it because it got things wrong at that time

also they actually applied transformers in Translate before ChatGPT came out
