The research shows the growing use of social media by societal actors to support the mission of state, and in the case of Russia, to bring militarised patriotism further into a young person's everyday experience. (5)

Despite the different techniques Nagornyy & Zanko employ, we found both leaders use Telegram to engage youth with the patriotic projects of their groups and promote a young person's 'active engagement' with state politics as a characteristic of being a 'good young patriot.' (4/)
