Overtaking isn’t dangerous if done correctly. And if people DON’T overtake you end up with long lines of traffic, leading to delays, frustration and ultimately unsafe situations.

IAM would expect you to overtake, to make “good progress with regard to speed limits and conditions”. At least they did when I passed the advanced test 20 years ago…

Ask a traffic cop what they think.

And please explain how to safely overtake a car doing 55mph in a 60 limit.
