I mostly write to calm my nerves when Spurs play and I enjoy this as a place to distract myself from work and chores. #COYS
Pun-ished…was that on purpose?

Great to meet the team drawing the most penalties right around the time refs apparently have come together to introduce brand new way to award penalties against Spurs. Should be fun!

Vibes aplenty solely of the positive kind, hereby digitally shipped. Wish you all the best!

Thanks. I thought about this piece when elsewhere commenting on the current anti-Frank swell. There is also so much about a manager we only infer indirecty; how the manager builds the team - beyond the formations and selection. Cohesion, unity, personell on an off the field, external contact...

I also liked Kolo Muani’s direct running and ball handling at speed.

I’ll wear my aluminum hat to work tomorrow. After that penalty, conspiracy theory is alive and kicking! Just about the stupidest I’ve seen from VAR and that’s quite an achievement!

«Clear and obvious» my ass!!!

You don’t need it. It was an utter standard tussle in the box. Two players interlocking and fell to the ground.

Beyond ridiculous!!!

And then we scored 🤭
December 2, 2025 at 9:54 PM
Let’s enjoy a period with some sustained pressure, no? At least we’re in the game, that’s something.

FWIW - I appreciated your observations and ideas then, and I appreciate them now. I don't always fully agree, but they usually make me think - and that is a very good thing, full stop.

Banding together can be a powerful way to protect themselves and also to create unity, and is a fully understandable response to current toxicity. It may however create another problem if creating that unity within deepens distance where you'd ideally nurture symbiosis.

A section on Son (or leadership) is perhaps indeed a missing piece? We can't see this from our distances; The everpresent leadership in training, dressing room, before and during games. So instead, we focus on what we can see - what Frank says, what each individuals does and their positions.
December 2, 2025 at 9:06 AM
A common theme - overfocussing on individuals. We focus too much on the individual mistakes, and the team relies too much on individual brilliance (Kudus+VDV). The bigger problem is the team not able to muster a better response in the first half, and struggling to create much unless Kudus kuduses.

There is always a bias. Another is the streetlight effect, or better, the drunkard's search principle. 6 months ago, I think this one was at play. We can surely look at the manager once again - but are we sure that's where the problem is?

The boos and jeering at Vic was embarrassing. No patience for it. But beyond that, where I sat, the fans responded to bouts of effort, speed on the ball, tackles and chance creation. All up on our feet when KM nearly equalized.

A progressive passer needs someone to pass to,. A player with a great half-turn need passes to feet for that to show. Individuals’ stats are produced in context of a team and must be understood as such.
December 1, 2025 at 4:32 PM
And the result? Good individual players who look stodgy, lack of anticipation, fewer blind runs into spaces where the pass comes because the other player just knows. The marks of how a great TEAM plays - not just brilliant individuals and planned moves on set pieces. This takes time to build.

I wonder what Angeball would have looked like with dribbly wingers left and right, established backline players and in every other way the wider squad we have now. We are where we are, and gazing at the past, projecting to alternative realities is of little use, but still - I do wonder

I’ve spent a fortune and a half bringing my three kids to the home games this autumn. Fair to say I am torn between being disappointed, feeling ripped off, to reporting myself in for child abuse.
